Looking for a good weight loss app, you’re in luck because I have 10 good ones for you. I know that everybody want’s to lose weight fast but my advice is to tone down a bit and have healthier approach. You will find many best weight loss programs on the web, but if they promise you to lose weight in 2 weeks, like 10kg or so my take is not to do it.

How to lose fat? I would say start with these apps. You will find diet plans and healthy ways to get in sync with your body. The best thing is that you can take this info with you wherever you go and you can always keep on eye on your diet and calories.

I have very little interest in working out. Five minutes a day is perfect for me. I have been using this App for 14 days and I can FEEL a difference already. My goal is to get rid of my back pain by increasing the strength of my stomach muscles. It feels like it’s working already. I can see the muscles of my stomach changing to little ripples.

I downloaded this app and find that it is easy to understand and remains peacefully in the background while you perform each position. It isn’t a video, just pictures of the positions. It is very easy to understand. I recommend to all beginners!

Works fine counting steps/miles, but if you want to track your training, you have to create an account on their website, upload your data, then reset your step count at the end of evey day. Then to see your you have to login to their website which is ad driven. Then to get around the locking issue go to iPhone settings, set autolock to never, start the app, walk/run, stop app, go back to autolock and set to desired minutes. Whew!

Several popular diets recommend a 40%-30%-30% ratio of these macronutrients, but this can be a chore to figure out when reading a Nutrition Facts label. Needs To Go Higher Than 99g (by Matt Perkins)
Would be a useful app if it wasn’t limited to 99g for carbs. Try eating normal (non diets) and try to stay at 99g carbs. You can’t drink even one pop or have dessert that isn’t low sugar.

If people limit themselves to 99g of carbs a day they’ll eventually give up and gain weight because to stay at 99g of carbs you have to deprive yourself of things you enjoy to make it work

Not to be used for those who eat NORMAL.

Although I like the functionality of LIVESTRONG both on the computer and on the app for tracking food and weight, their customer service is nonexistent. I reported that my weight wasn’t tracking correctly on the graph and just got back a standard response. They didn’t even read my problem so it clearly won’t get fixed ! Just like their website. I paid to
Upgrade to Gold. Supposedly you get responses to emails within two days, and I have sent FOUR emails requesting help and never even received a response OF ANY KIND – not even an acknowledgement of my email. So don’t expect ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR ANYTHING!!!!!

Heart rate monitor and training computer for sports and fitness

With this ingenious app, you can measure with your iPhone iPad or iPod touch your heart pulse rate, and use as a training computer. This procedure requires the HMB | TEC pulse-receiver and a Polar-compatible chest strap. (these are almost all standard straps. The heart rate monitor is measuring your ECG signal and displays your heart rate in bpm (beats per minute). For visual inspection the display shows a synchronously beating heart and an animated ECG chart.

The app measures the actual, real heartbeat frequency (it is not just a cheap simulation!) that assigns the measured value of a training target zone, which is tailored to your age. At the beginning of your workout program you determine your resting heart rate by pressing a “stetoscope”-Button. Based on your age the maximum heart rate (MHR) will be calculated and stored in memory. During your training course your heart rate is measured continuously and compared to the previously measured MHR-value. Depending on the physical strain you will get a feedback on the achieved training target zone (see table).

You may your training at any time or when reaching a desired target zone. Now just press the “CHECK” button and the software continues to measure your heart rate exactly one minute while comparing your heart rate to your original resting heart rate. On a traffic lights scale of you can track how your pulse will slowly approache that level. After expiry of one minute, you will receive an evaluation reading rated in “%”. Here, a display of 100% means that you have achieved within that minute again resting heart rate.

Important Notice!
This app is not a scientific or medical device and should not be used for medical applications. The obtained results are given as indicative benchmarks and have no medical benefit. This app and the implemented heart rate monitor not used to control vital bodily functions and parameters seriously.


1: Health Zone:
This amounts to 50-60% of maximum heart rate.
In this pulse range is strengthened, especially the cardiovascular system. This area is particularly suitable for beginners.

2: Fat Burning Zone:
This is approximately 60-70% of maximum heart rate.
In this pulse range most of the calories from fat to be burned. In addition, the cardiovascular system is trained.

3: Aerobic Zone:
This is approximately 70-80% of maximum heart rate.
In this pulse range of carbohydrates and fats are burned for energy in muscle cells. This area calls for the cardiovascular system and lungs and metabolism.

4: Anaerobic Zone:
This amounts to about 80-90% of maximum heart rate.
In this pulse range of body oxygen demand can no longer cover. This area is used for strength and muscle mass building.

5: Red Zone:
This amounts to 90-100% of maximum heart rate.
This pulse range should be treated with caution. It is dangerous for beginners and can be harmful for the heart.

For the operation of this app, you need the HMB | TEC Pulse-PR-2010 receiver and a Polar compatible heart rate chest strap. You can order the PR-2010 at the HMB | TEC online store.

I’ve used several food/exercise tracker type apps and this is by far the worst.

You can’t add things directly to the tracker unless you have WiFi access.

The app takes forever to start and crashes frequently, making the calculator impossible to use as a shopping tool.

There are surprisingly few foods and restaurants in the database. It doesn’t even have all the major fast food chains. Most of the time I have to use one of my other tracking apps to get nutrition info, then I wait for the WW app to gear up, then I have to create a new food. Finally I can add it to my tracker.

The user interface isn’t too bad but there are some things you can only do online. It would be nice to have everything in one place.

This app is terrible. It is difficult to find the correct food. If you need to correct an entry, it is very difficult and sometimes impossible. Half the time, I give up and just wait until I can get to my computer. It is very counterintuitive. Horrible. I love my iPhone, but when I use this app, I want to smash the phone against the wall. If I hadn’t paid for 3 months, I would have given up on this app and weight watchers.

The last few updates are the worst in the history of this app.
The amazingly-new awesome "food categories" are useless, what happend with them, is that a lot a foods are just not present (still, after 3.6.2) the search takes longer (still) both on an iPod touch 2G and an iPhone 4, and the upload to the webstie has become slow, very very slow.
Also, servings in grams? Really? Why not make the user scroll for half a minute from 137 grams to 362? Because its in the iOS Human Interface Guidelines:

" If your application requires a lot of user input before anything useful happens, that input slows people down and can discourage them from using your app."

It really does.
